Montblanc: Where The Past & The Future Make For A Fulfilling Present

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

One is a newly launched novelty that celebrates the past, the other, a reimagined writing instrument that’s most definitely forward-looking. Collectively, these pieces from Montblanc make for a fulfilling present. Both literally and figuratively.

The first is a watch dedicated to one of the world’s greatest adventurers, Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, who sailed all the way to India, becoming the first European to reach the subcontinent by sea. The Heritage Chronométrie Quantième Annuel Vasco da Gama (which, by the way, is just one of the 5 pieces in this collection that’s dedicated to him) is also a limited edition timepiece, with only 238 pieces (238 referencing the height of Cape Point which da Gama used to travel further eastward) in 18K red gold ever made.

The second is a writing instrument that has been given a modern makeover by designer Marc Newson, simply known as the Montblanc M. ‘From the sight of the shape’s clean lines or the detailed plating of the nib, from the touch and feel of the writing instrument with its polished surface and ruthenium forepart, to the sound of the click of the cap as it is drawn to the body of the writing instrument with the magnet’, Newson adds that the ‘Montblanc M offers a seamless writing experience that engages the senses’.

While the timepiece is already available locally at Montblanc boutiques in Singapore (SGD17,600 each, if you must know), the Montblanc M pens (there are 5 styles including writing essentials ballpoint, fountain and rollerball along with a ScreenWriter (for use on touch screens) and an Artfineliner (for technical drawing) will only be available in the coming weeks.
